How national relay services actually work
National flower services are primarily marketing companies, not florists. When you place an order, they take a percentage of your payment (typically 20 to 40 percent) and then send the reduced amount to a local florist in the delivery area with instructions to fill the order.
The result is that the local florist, working with a reduced budget, often cannot replicate the arrangement shown in the original product photo. What arrives at your recipient's door may have fewer flowers, smaller stems, or a different composition than what you paid for.
What you get from a local florist
When you order from a local GTA florist directly, your entire payment goes to the florist making your arrangement. There is no relay fee, no middleman, and no dilution of your budget.
More importantly, local florists work with fresh stock that they source directly from wholesalers and, during peak season, directly from Ontario growers. Their inventory reflects what is actually beautiful and available right now, not what a national catalogue printed six months ago.

Local florists typically receive flower deliveries multiple times per week. The flowers in your arrangement may have been at the wholesaler 24 to 48 hours before they are put in your bouquet. Compare that to pre-made arrangements that may have been sitting in temperature-controlled warehouses and transit vehicles for days before reaching your recipient.

Look for a florist who shows photos of actual arrangements they have made, not stock photos. Check that they have transparent pricing, a clear delivery area, and responsive communication. A florist who responds quickly to messages and is specific about delivery timing is almost always the better operator.
Read reviews specifically for delivery reliability and accuracy. "Beautiful flowers and arrived on time" is the outcome you are looking for. "Flowers looked nothing like the photo" is a warning sign regardless of how many positive reviews surround it.
